In The Shrine something similar happens where an American backpacker goes missing in Europe and this is when a group of journalists link his disappearance to a remote Polish village called Alvaina. They soon learn that a cult said to practice human sacrifice here unconditionally.

Highly motivated to discover the truth they visits the village and in the process find an ancient hidden stone statue and also mysteries revolving around the conduct of the locals.  And dreadfully so they could even be the next in line to be sacrificed!
