Green Lantern is an upcoming superhero film by Warner Bros. based on the comic book, Green Lantern appearing in DC Comics. The movie will star Ryan Reynolds (“X-Men Origins: Wolverine”), Peter Sarsgaard (“An Education,” “Flightplan”), Blake Lively (upcoming “The Town,” TV’s “Gossip Girl”) and Mark Strong (“Sherlock Holmes”) etc under the direction of Martin Campbell (“Casino Royale”).
The script by was done by Greg Berlanti and comic book writers Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim, which was subsequently rewritten by Michael Goldenberg. Green Lantern is scheduled to be released in 3D and 2D on June 17th 2011 and be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.In a vast universe, a small but powerful force called the Green Lantern Corps (brotherhood of warriors) act as protectors of peace and justice between galaxies. Each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers.
With the arrival of a new enemy called Parallax who threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, they all turn to the first human recruit named Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) who is a cocky test pilot. None of the Green Lantern Corps have fully utilized the infinite powers of the ring before. With the help of the fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively) he tries to master the powers of the ring.
And if could only do that and find the courage to overcome his fears, he could not only easily defeat Parallax, but also become the greatest Green Lantern of all
Apart from the main stars, the others include Jay O. Sanders (“Revolutionary Road”), Temuera Morrison (“Star Wars” Episodes II and III), Taika Waititi (TV’s “The Flight of the Conchords”), Academy Award® nominee Angela Bassett (“What’s Love Got to Do with It”) and Academy Award® winner Tim Robbins (“Mystic River”). The film is being produced by Donald De Line and Greg Berlanti while Herbert W. Gains and Andrew Haas serve as executive producers. Geoff Johns and Lucienne Papon are co-producing.
