Chris Cooper has joined the cast of “The Tempest,” and he’s perfect for it — because he’s perfect in everything he does.

I must admit, I never paid much attention to Chris Cooper until a few years ago, when a friend told me how fantastic he was. I started paying more attention, and she was right.

My favorite movie of his in recent years is “Breach,” where he plays a real-life FBI agent convicted of selling secrets to the Soviet Union. Cooper is so understated in his movie roles, but he gets right to the heart of things emotionally.

“The Tempest” also stars rocker-turned-actor Reeve Carney, who’s also the lead singer and guitarist for his band, Reeve Carney & The Revolving Band. Director Julia Taymor discovered him in New York when she went to see his band perform!
