The New York Times loves Jean Smart, so much so they’ve named her to their ‘Roles of the Season, Maybe a Lifetime’ list, for her performance in ABC’s Samantha Who. But they also highlighted her scene stealing role as Martha Logan on 24 saying, “Nearly every time she has appeared on television in the past few years, you have wanted her to sit tight and stay. As Martha Logan, wife of the weasely, Nixonian commander in chief during the fifth season of “24†(and his ex, briefly and brilliantly this past season), she gave us torment and grievance and righteous fury.
I think we can all agree that Jean Smart was not only stand out in season five, but stole the show when she returned briefly as Martha Logan in season six.
